What can you expect in working with me?

Well, to start, I’ll tell you what not to expect.

I will not prescribe diets or strict exercise regimes.

I will not diagnose conditions or prescribe medications.

I will not presume expertise about your body, your needs, and your lifestyle.

Why?

I am not the expert of your body—you are. And if you don’t believe that yet, then be encouraged. Because my job is to help you get to the point where you are the expert of your body so that you can confidently make choices that lead to your thriving.

I will listen to your story.

I will accept you here and now.

I will consider your bio-individuality, which means I will not assume that your body is like mine, or your mom’s, or your sister’s, or your best friend’s body. Your body is your unique body, so I will approach you with respect and curiosity for all that you bring to the table and will not presume to know exactly what your body needs.

I will take a multi-dimensional approach to your thriving—meaning that I will see you as a whole, complex being with a lot more going on than just the food you eat. I will consider your relationships, job, hobbies, spirituality, etc as integral pieces of your identity that influence your overall health and well-being. All of you deserves attention, because all aspects of your life influence your ability to thrive.

Lastly, I will help you overcome the barriers to your goals, balance your hormones, and thrive by incorporating appropriate nutritional, lifestyle, and exercise habits.

Absolutely! Every woman, whether planning to conceive or not, deserves to be thriving in her body and menstruating without issues. I’m here to help you get to that place. And FYI, deeper knowledge of your body and your cycle can actually be just as helpful in avoiding pregnancy as it is for achieving it.

What do I need to know about my cycle besides the fact that it happens every month?

There’s so much to know—it’s amazing! Did you know there are four phases to your cycle? And that the length of each phase can give you insight into hormonal imbalances you may have? And that your nutrition and movement play important roles in your hormone and cycle health?

Regarding conception, knowing your cycle intimately can help you accurately identify your fertile window so that you know exactly when to time intercourse. This not only increases your chances of planned conception, but can also give you a very accurate due date!

And if you’re not interested in conception, in-depth knowledge of your cycle is helpful for avoiding pregnancy without needing to rely on hormonal birth control. Knowledge of your body is a win-win!

Isn’t having a painful period and PMS normal?

While these symptoms are extremely common, they are not normal. These symptoms are a sign of imbalance, and I can help you address them so that you can experience more comfortable periods!

What can you offer me if I don’t have any hormonal imbalances that I’m aware of, am planning to conceive, and have not struggled to conceive in the past?

Great question! Did you know that your nutrition and lifestyle choices 90 days before conception largely influence egg (and sperm) quality? This means that you (and your partner) have the opportunity to positively impact your future child’s genetics in the months and even years leading up to conception. What an amazing opportunity! I can offer valuable nutrition and lifestyle suggestions that will help you optimize your fertility and prepare your body to carry a healthy child through the marathon of pregnancy.

Will you work with me if I am on hormonal birth control?

Yes! Whether you want to remain on HBC, or plan to stop, I will do my best to help you support your body and hormones accordingly.

I do not promise that working with me will guarantee conception. Having experienced challenges conceiving myself, I find it important to acknowledge that there are often factors out of our control, and sometimes beyond our comprehension, that affect our ability to conceive even when we are doing “everything right”. I want to be sensitive to that and not presume to offer something I can’t.

While I cannot promise conception, I do promise to equip you to more fully understand your body’s story, which will then give you confidence to make fruitful decisions surrounding your fertility journey, whether conception is the end result or not.
